The True Calling Connection

Unity - People putting hands togetherTrue callings are big, ballsy and boldly uplifting. True callings invite you to ride a wave of reconnection that simply doesn’t allow small thinking.

Yes I’m talking about reconnecting your original link between authenticity (expressed true calling) and abundance but I’m also referring to a second reconnection – the deep connection of authentic souls to one another.

I want to talk about that second reconnection today.   My big idea is to create and facilitate experiential events where we accelerate the probability of fully engaged participants reconnecting their original link between expressed authenticity (true calling) and abundance.  The first ever live Big Link Rally is scheduled for January 2, 2010 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

This original reconnection will occur sooner for each individual by linking together and creating present moment systems of deep trust.  It’s the connection to one another that opens us up to more vibrant life possibilities and makes a true calling become more evident.   Systems in nature evolve toward symbiotic relationships.  You want examples? Just look at the plants/flowers/bees/birds/seeds cycle.

People systems built on trust and mutual intent also provide order, support and stability.  Within such systems information is freely shared and dreams are nurtured.  The openness and playfulness of the group encourages even deeper connection and even more intentional self-honor.

Do you see how this connection to one another was weakened while growing up?  Our natural trust for one another was instead replaced by the fears of cultural conditioning.  These fears severed our support for one another and in the process severed our link to natural prosperity.

Our blessing of individual uniqueness ought to be all the proof we need to understand that the traditional business game of conformity, scarcity and competition is a myth.  Of course its dog eat dog if everyone is trying to eat the same dog. That game is only played and never really won, by those who fear their individuality.

Choose uniqueness instead.   Choose to engage differences through revering individual true callings to create greater gain and abundant benefits for all.

I’m creating playgrounds of right livelihood because by seeing the significance in my brother’s calling I can more assuredly find the courage to follow my own.  By catching the spirit of my sister’s calling I’m lifted and inspired to follow through and answer my own.

This first Pittsburgh event on January 2, will recreate what might have been had we all developed without the fear.  Can you imagine the lift?  Can you consider the likelihood of discovering a brand new calling together with others who hold the same vision while co-creating in vibrant New Year energy?

By trusting one another deeply, we evolve more rapidly, as we might have naturally, if we had always lived within mutually supportive environments of highly aware, intelligent connection.

Passion is evoked when we connect to others, purpose to purpose.  Meg Wheatley

Yes we are all connected and we can all play a bigger game by recognizing how much we mean to one another.  You are deeply important to me.   I love your wildness because it encourages my own.  Please bring all of you out to play.

Do not apologize for your emerging magnificence.  Those around you will either feel this call of connection or it will fall on dead ears. What has life become if we can’t freely share our exaltations for fear of offending others? Screw that!  Be your wild ass self please!

I accept that it’s my calling to poke, provoke and upset your apple cart.   That’s the whole point.  If you want both deep fulfillment and piles of money you may need to pull a new cart.  We’re in this together and attracted by your courageous calling we’ll all offer you a boost until you gather your momentum.

I am in such a clear blue field of glory right now that I can only inspire. I could use your help with a little grounding. If you have questions about discovering or validating true calling, with group connection, please ask them below.

If you really get what I’m saying try this experiment. Go forth and spread the word. Feel your awaiting connection to others on this sacred path.  Your soul will be nurtured by the authentic expression and the emerging heart to heart connection.

Evan Hadkins was naturally inspired to invite his readers  along for the ride to hear about new developments first here: Join us.

Can you feel our connection? What are you willing to do about it now?

I have had a lot of trouble with trying to intentionally downplay “emerging magnificence” in my life. Now I pretty much understand that pretending to be more inferior than you really are (for the sake of not bothering others) does not actually help others grow.

  2. Today I have been wrestling with getting some research done that I need to know in order to move forward on my calling – Part of it included a wonderful article about how schools teach fear and instill fear…

I am seeing clearly that I am working on my authentic work, and the only thing I am holding back and am fearful about is Why I never make any money at what I am engaged in?..

I am teaching a free book study tomorrow night and all the participants are busy sharing one copy of the book (6) because they don’t want to spend $4 for the book…

I am even supplying dinner to these working women because I want them to read the book….bribery…I hope it works – because these women could all make a difference in our community if they feel called to do so, but they do not know about this material…

Need to get back to your questions too…the orchard, garden and chickens all needed me right now! and my partner is away biking for his refreshment and vacation…

  3. I’m glad you love my wildness, Tom! Not to mention my magnificence! What you are saying is so true – Frank and I are really experiencing changes in ourselves and people we know at the moment, because of everyone getting on with our “real” work rather than substitutes.

Awesome post!! Thank you! I’ve always been different and hated going along with the crowd, it had always been too much effort to try and fit in. Now being with like-minded people makes life all the sweeter because rather than clash, we bounce. Sonia

  5. Great idea. I’m in. I always call myself a 60’s person and I am. I loved the 60s and I am 63. I still have a lot of fire. Check out my website at http://www.rekindleyourheart.com and go to Music-Choices. It’s a musical presentation designed to help kids make better choices with their lives. Plus the music is a gas. There’s also a page called Music-Darfur which is a piece I wrote and which I’m looking for a dance company to do with on A day in Darfur.
    My fire is coming alive.

  6. As the old line goes “This isn’t a rehearsal.” Do it now.

  7. I really love how being individual ends up connecting us all! Yet so many try to connect with others by being like them (reminds me of highschool – like that song “Highschool Never Ends” by Bowling for Soup…).

You wanted questions – so here’s mine. I easily see how there is a connection between people and how empowering that will be in your experience. Maybe this is not the thing to ask here (?) but how will you link that power to abundance?

Don’t give away any trade secrets either! Just you know me… always curious! 🙂

    Joy and peace,

  8. Scientific Living – Welcome. Yes it’s almost impossible to squash our brilliance. Glad you now know that playing small serves no one.

Patricia – Perhaps it’s not a matter of the lack f making money but a matter of the lack of asking for it. It’s hard to make what we want when we fear charging for what we are worth. It’s not about what others get or even what they think they can afford. It’s more about what you are willing to ask for – just because you want it. Check out the classic book, Earn What You Deserve by Mundis.

Robin – Very Cool – Getting on with your “real” work has a nice no nonsense ring to it. Keep hanging with those who support your magnificence.

Sonia – Welcome. I’d bounce with you any time. 😉 Life can be a joyful glide once we remove all the people who weight us down. Freedom rings directly from our choices. Keep at it the world needs your brilliance.

Scott – Welcome man. I’ll be sure to check out your tunes. Ages really is nothing. The sixties were a blast just like the coming teens promise to be.

Keena – Great observation, I can only really see you and connect with you when you are YOU. Thanks for the great question. I’ve just written an answer that’s so inspiring I know it will become a part of the new Big Link rally site under frequently asked questions. How will I link the power of connection to abundance? It’s not me who will do the linking. It’s each of the participants who will be unable to resist the magnificence of their calling. They will have no choice but to bring it forth and that brilliant energy will attract abundance.

Furthermore it’s not my trade secret or system that will accomplish this. I’m just throwing the best party ever for authentic souls and allowing magical connection to do its work.

Thanks to you I’ve written a longer answer that I’ll send out to true big link rally supporters who have subscribed to the special list above. The answer must be savored by those who will truly appreciate it.

  9. Suzanne @ vAssistant Services says

    Tom,

First, I can’t think of any better way to start 2010 than with you at such an event! I’m there! Got my kids covered already, even!

Second, I want to thank you for being you and for being brave and sharing your true calling journey with all of us in this public way. It totally rocks to be witness to the incremental steps of the journey.

Third, this second connection – of authentic souls to one another – is what I see has been the missing piece for me all these years.

My favorite quote is Marianne Williamson’s “By shining my light, I give others permission to do the same…” That taps the altruism in me…it says, “Suzanne…be your authentic self, shine your light strong and bright as an example for others…as encouragement for others…lead the way, girl!” But it also speaks to the permission I get FROM others to be myself…which I don’t get if I’m surrounded by people who aren’t shining their light.

So, you told Keena, “It’s not me who will do the linking. It’s each of the participants who will be unable to resist the magnificence of their calling. They will have no choice but to bring it forth and that brilliant energy will attract abundance.”

I totally believe that will be true. My question is what happens when we all go back home? Where maybe we aren’t surrounded by authentic souls? You think that brilliant energy will be as brilliant a week later? A month later?

I get that I’ll be making powerful connections there…and that I’ll come home with ways to contact and reconnect with the individuals I met there. Do you think we’ll be able to maintain that brilliant energy when we’re no longer face-to-face?

Or do you think it’ll be more like the experience of being together in that brilliant energy will irrevocably change us all enough that we’ll be our “shinier selves” coming back home?

Whatever your answers to these “Hmmmm…???” questions of mine, thank you for creating the space for me to ask them.

I can’t wait to read your answer to Keena’s question… I hope everyone who visits here and is interested in all this gets on your list!

  10. My fears sometimes get the best of me. I’ve been afraid to tackle this big scary project because of what people might say. I felt the same thing with my blog, but I did it and now I get wonderful responses.

My big project will probably be the same way. I need to dig in and just do it. I know it won’t be perfect, but that’s ok, that’s the beauty of trying something new.
.-= Karl Staib – Work Happy Now´s last blog ..Hard Fun and The Beautiful – The Rain Edition =-.

  11. Glad to see you’re looking for grounding. You gotta stay grounded, man. I’ve written several dozen articles (1000s of words each) that aren’t grounded in reality.

There are always practical considerations. No success or failure is of unequaled or eternal magnitude. Most of what you’re doing now is actually quite small and insignificant. Don’t feel bad! I’m doing small stuff too, like posting a photo to my blog every day this month and “teaching” a supplemental “class” at college. If you keep moving with the small stuff, eventually (think years), it will become a movement. Something very big.

Keep working, stay hungry, stay foolish.

  12. Fear…..I know it well right now. This school year, our business is unavailing a new program. I want it to be perfect. We are also ready to market our new kinder science center book……Again, I want it to be perfect. I set the bar really high for myself but have a difficult time judging my own work so I never know how I have met the goal until I get feedback from others. I have sent samples from the book to a few folks who have given the book two thumbs up so I feel ….ok. I am really more fearful about the new program. I want all the bugs worked out before we debut. Unfortunately for me, I feel like my reputation as an educator, presenter, writer, hangs on EVERYTHING I do. I need my products to be perfect.

I wish I could be in Pittsburgh for your conference Tom. Good luck with it!

  13. Suzanne – Thank you so much for your continued support and especially for your commitment to connecting your own big link. You’ve asked a beautiful question and it too deserves a special answer which I’ll only answer to subscribers of the big link list. You folks who are truly committed to this work deserve a higher level of response and you’ll get it. But I’ll give you a taste here.

You asked: “My question is what happens when we all go back home? Where maybe we aren’t surrounded by authentic souls? You think that brilliant energy will be as brilliant a week later? A month later? I get that I’ll be making powerful connections there…and that I’ll come home with ways to contact and reconnect with the individuals I met there. Do you think we’ll be able to maintain that brilliant energy when we’re no longer face-to-face?

Or do you think it’ll be more like the experience of being together in that brilliant energy will irrevocably change us all enough that we’ll be our “shinier selves” coming back home?”

My answer: The purpose of participating in the big link rally is to reconnect your link between authenticity and abundance. Reconnected links are not like forms of temporary transformation. This is not about coming and hearing info and then trying to figure out how to use it when home. This is about transforming, in the midst of others, who are all transforming with you so you will walk out of that beautiful music hall a totally different being.

You’ll identify, validate or evolve your own true calling in a much clearer and bolder point of insight than you ever have previously. Once that occurs, it’s impossible for you to go back to a point of confusion, doubt or indecision. Your calling at that point is alive and will continue to grow on it’s own as a new benevolent cell system within your being.

Just as I am structuring pre-work before the event and ideal participation at the event I won’t leave you hanging post event. There will also be a continued structure of support and follow-up options available to all. There’s more but I’ll save that answer for the list.

  14. Karl – Go for it man. Who needs perfect. Sometimes the mistakes show h us gold that we would not see any other way. You are a brilliantly unique man with a unique goal. The world needs your service. Think of all of those who are waiting to support you not the few naysayers who mayu doubt you.

Richard – I’ve asked for the grounding because once I make startling realizations I sometimes forget what others are looking for and I’ve been most appreciative of the questions others have asked so far. I get where you are coming from and yet I really don’t care how insignificant or big my work is in the total scheme of things. I see a big problem and I’m answering it with a big (at least in my own mind) solution. I’ve got the balls to tell the story as it develops so all here will get to see how significant it really turns out to be. Please at least be open to being astounded. It’s changed my life.

Laurie – If I were you I’d totally give up on that idea of perfection. Do the best you can with what you have and then put it out there. Sometimes the after the fact adjustments are what a product really needs to be valuable. Look at all the software companies who sell beta versions that aren’t nearly complete. That way the customer gets to have a say in the completion. The last time I checked they had flights from texas to Pittsburgh so what do you mean you really wish you could be here. If that’s true then make it happen.

  15. I know I have to give up on the idea of perfection but still I want to create the best product possible. I have used feedback forms that I pass out to teachers during our presentation and gotten some great ideas from them that I have implemented.

No it’s true, I would love to be there. But No mon hun. Right now I’m just paying bills and buying food.

  16. Hi Tom! I just realized that my bookmark for your site was set for your post on July 29–all this time I thought you had not yet updated your blog! This post is excellent. I love what you wrote here: “Do you see how this connection to one another was weakened while growing up? Our natural trust for one another was instead replaced by the fears of cultural conditioning.” I see the joy and ease of connection between my children and their friends–or just random kids they meet at the park or on the playground and wonder why it isn’t like that between adults. The way in which you are seeking to change all that is inspiring. The more we can get people to show up for each other authentically and lovingly, the better lives we all will have!

  17. If I were to be within 50 miles of Pittsburgh on that day, you know I’d be there front and center.

Alas, I must kick the small-thinking to the curb from afar. But that can be effective too! It’s all how we re-frame where we are, thanks to blogs like yours.

  18. Laurie – yes I know exactly what you mean about perfection. It’s quite the balance to get when you really care like we do. I’ve been working on the Big Link Rally experience, website and marketing plan for what seems like far too long. But some “work” is simply necessary in the early stages.

Jodi – I don’t post as often as I once did but that would be way too long! 🙂 I’m happy you’ve visited once more. Absolutely kids are fabulous examples of the carefree lifestyle that we can all enjoy. Thank you so much for your support.

Jannie – Yes I love your vibes and wish you could make it. Heck I’d even share the stage with you for a musical number. But stay tuned, I’m pretty certain that I’ll eventually take this show on the road and offer both virtual and live events that may fit your schedule.

  20. Evan – Not unless you dial the number using Skype long distance. I’m not sure if I’ll get it together by then but I will look into the services that allow connection both ways.

  21. Tom,
this is great! 😉 I especially love how you shared about focusing on our ‘uniqueness’ and ’emerging magnificence’..
your blogs are very uplifting and comforting in this ever-awakening authentic journey!
I noticed while reading your blog and you shared this part: By trusting one another deeply, we evolve more rapidly, as we might have naturally, if we had always lived within mutually supportive environments of highly aware, intelligent connection, – that I began to feel that there is still some blockage in the ‘trust’ category for me.. so when you shared to trust one another deeply, that is something I am still learning to do.. I’m one of those people who when asked to fall back into someone else’s arms trusting they’ll catch me, I still have not and could not do that with my closest soulmate. So, I think there are still some areas that I need to push through on in the trust category! Thanks for sharing, and inspiring me to push further into authentic growth! Namaste! ~Jen

  22. “True callings are big, ballsy and boldly uplifting.”

That’s exactly how I felt last week when I auditioned for that TV show…walked out feeling and thinking “I belong here”.

And for that I often find myself apologizing…for what? It’s not my fault people get overwhelmed by my actions.

Last week was a new step, regardless of the outcome, and I can’t wait for the next one!
.-= Stacey Shipman´s last blog ..How I Found “Work Happiness”, Finally =-.

  23. Jen – You’ve made an excellent realization. Now you must work on building the trust. Sometime there are residual hurts from big heart wounds that get in the way of us trusting others. I know that I had to forgive my ex-wife for her lack of belief in me and I esopecially needed to forgive myself for keeping that would alive many years after my divorce. Things really started moving after I cleared that wound with tons of loving energy.

Stacey – Yes! No doubt you were in your element and ready to rock! Screw them if they can’t take your boldness or your budding greatness. Even that could be your fear projecting out. Let it go – you are ready to shine. 🙂
